Mysterious OnePlus Device Shows Up At FCC

Mysterious OnePlus Device Shows Up At FCC

Just when you thought the 2015 Android hype train was coming to an end, a mysterious device has put the train back into motion.

The phone in question belongs to OnePlus, which was found in FCC listings. There is only one image of the device present (found under the Label & Label location header at this link), and honestly, it does not give out a lot of information about the device, apart from its existence.

The FCC listing does reveal that this phone, model ONE E1005, will be a dual sim phone with a max processor speed of 1.9GHz. The phone has support for LTE Bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 8, along with GSM support for frequency at 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. From the images, we can gather that the phone will sport a traditional micro-usb port instead of the USB Type-C port that is slowly becoming the standard in newer smartphones. Regards build design and materials, the phone features what appears to be a metal frame. The bottom of the device looks inspired from the Galaxy S6 and other similar devices, with its drilled speaker holes and plastic antennae bands.

Piecing together some more information from other leaks about new OnePlus devices, we know that the next OnePlus device will most likely sport the X tag instead of Mini. This has been mentioned at multiple instance, such as this GizmoChina leak of the OnePlus X renders as well as this recent Weibo post by OnePlus CEO Liu Zuohu. Worth noting is the fact that the GizmoChina renders (pictured below) do not match the device in the FCC image, so we have our doubts on the renders making to the production stage. Regarding the processors, it was mentioned that the phone may either sport a Snapdragon 801 or the new Helio X10 MT6795, neither of which ties in perfectly with the FCC mentioned clock speed of 1.9GHz unless the processor has been purposely underclocked (which OnePlus has done with the OnePlus 2).

At this stage, concrete details about the OnePlus X still remains a mystery, a rarity in recent leak culture. OnePlus is holding an event in Bangalore, India next week with attendance from OnePlus founder Pete Lau as well as OnePlus General Manager of India, Vikas Agarwal, with a cryptic invitation that says the company wants to showcase its “Next Big Step”. Hopefully, the picture will become clearer at the event. For now, take all non-FCC material with a pinch of salt.
